The History of the club
Pickering Brook Netball Club is a small netball club with a proud history dating back to 2003 when a mum at Pickering Brook Primary School wanted to start a team for her young daughter to play the great game of Netball.
That mum and daughter - Rachel and Courtney Gava - started a team and a club which is still going today - 21 years later!
The club was affiliated with Pickering Brook Primary School up until 2018 when it became an Incorporated entity. Whilst still having a close relationship with the Primary School which fed a lot of young players into the club, becoming incorporated meant the club could draw from other areas and also players who wanted to play on with PBNC could do so once they had moved to high school. With the township of Pickering Brook being so small this move to incorporation was vital for the sustainability of the club.
Pickering Brook is a fruit growing region in the Perth Hills and a lot of our players, parents, committee and coaches over the years have had a connection with the Orchard industry. As such, in later years our team names have all been derived from varieties of fruit like Honey Mays (Nectarines), Bravos (Apples) & Firebrites (Nectarine).
Our logo (designed by past parent, Deb Wilkes) is a netball in the shape of an apple!
